Small Changes…

Twelfth night biscuits
We are pleased to say that we have made a change to the clear bags/sleeves that we use for our gingerbread trays. They are now made from Natureflex, which is made from renewable wood pulp that has been sustainably harvested from FSC managed forests.

This small change has required a big investment (by our standards!) in sealing machinery and packaging, but we think that it is a step worth taking.

This means that the bags are 100% home compostable. If you don’t make compost but have a council caddy for food waste you could put your food scraps in the bag, as it will compost safely.

A Spotlight on Our Lovely Retailers

This month we would like to present:

Stansted Park Farm Shop

Stansted Park Farm Shop
Maze Courtyard
Stansted Park, Rowlands Castle
Hants PO9 6DX

Sam Edden and Fred Duncannon started Stansted Park Farm Shop in 2012 in the old estate stables.

They quickly realized that the existing shop was not big enough and asked the Stansted Park Foundation for larger premises. After three years of planning the Foundation built the wonderful new bespoke barn, across the courtyard from their old shop.

This stunning, wood-beamed building was made with Douglas fir timber from the estate that was planted in 1946 by the Women’s Land Army.

The farm shop has an impressive butchery and lots of cheeses to choose from!

They have freshly baked savouries, a well-stocked fresh fruit and veg area and you can also buy freshly squeezed orange juice…

They also hold regular events and food-related training courses, so keep an eye on their website.

In addition to this wonderful farm shop, you can visit the garden centre and have lunch or tea at the very, very nice (yes Lesley has been there lots of times!) Pavilion Tearoom, which sits in a beautiful walled garden.

Old Recipe Corner

Apologies for the absence of a recipe this month – we are very busy moving to our new office and store – more about it next month.
